Iran UN Envoy: ‘Surrender Not an Option’ for Palestine, Calls for Global Action

The international community must move beyond simple sympathy and take active steps to address the displacement of Palestinians and the Israeli occupation, Iranian Ambassador to the UN, Amir-Saeid Iravani, stated on Friday.

Speaking on the 78th anniversary of the Nakba—which marks the 1948 expulsion of over 700,000 Palestinians—Iravani emphasized the urgent need for global mobilization against Israel’s expansionist policies, noting that around six million Palestinians remain registered as UNRWA refugees today.

“Surrender is not an option,” Iravani declared, urging the world to abandon failed peace approaches and support the right to self-determination.

He warned that history would judge those who remain silent in the face of oppression.

The diplomat’s remarks come amid the ongoing Gaza conflict, which the United Nations reports has already displaced the vast majority of the enclave’s 2.1 million residents.

Meanwhile, Israeli officials continue to firmly reject a two-state solution, arguing that an independent Palestinian state poses a direct threat to Israel’s survival.

Highlighting this stance, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explicitly stated in November 2025 that a Palestinian state will not be established.
