Opella and World Allergy Organization Announce 5-Year Global Partnership to Advance Allergy Care

Consumer healthcare leader Opella and the World Allergy Organization (WAO) have launched a five-year global partnership (2027–2031) aimed at improving how allergic diseases are recognized and managed in everyday healthcare settings worldwide.
Announced at the 32nd World Allergy Congress (WAC) in Kyoto, Japan, the collaboration will focus on empowering frontline healthcare providers—including general practitioners, pediatricians, pharmacists, and nurses—with evidence-based guidance, educational resources, and streamlined care pathways.
With allergic diseases like allergic rhinitis affecting hundreds of millions globally and frequently remaining underdiagnosed, the partnership seeks to bridge gaps in early detection and self-care.
The joint initiative will specifically focus on pediatric and adolescent care to mitigate the widespread impact of allergies on sleep, education, and daily quality of life.
As part of this effort, Opella and the WAO will publish their first joint ‘Self-care in Allergy Report’ this December.
To foster clinical innovation, the organizations unveiled the inaugural WAO-Opella Award for Innovative Solutions in Everyday Allergy Care.
Opening for entries in January 2027, the award will recognize frontline initiatives that deliver measurable improvements in patient outcomes, with inaugural winners to be presented at the World Allergy Congress in October 2027.
