Saudi Arabia Boosts Regional Trade with New “Red Sea Express” Shipping Service at Yanbu Port

The Saudi Ports Authority, known as Mawani, has officially launched the “Red Sea Express” shipping service at the King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu.

Reported by Saudi state media on Tuesday, this strategic initiative is designed to drastically accelerate cargo handling, minimize vessel waiting times, and elevate overall logistics efficiency at one of the region’s most critical maritime hubs.

The newly established shipping route creates a vital maritime corridor, directly linking the key regional ports of Jeddah and Yanbu in Saudi Arabia, Ain Sokhna in Egypt, and Aqaba in Jordan.

Boasting a transport capacity of 1,100 standard containers, the Red Sea Express is set to significantly strengthen trade ties and streamline supply chains across the Middle East and North Africa.

Situated strategically on the Red Sea coast, the King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu stands as one of the largest ports for loading crude oil, refined products, and petrochemicals in the region.

The launch of the Red Sea Express further solidifies its position as a major logistics powerhouse, capable of handling diverse cargo demands.

In addition to boosting commercial efficiency, the new service underscores Yanbu’s growing geopolitical importance.

Saudi Arabia has increasingly rerouted and scaled up shipments through its Red Sea infrastructure to ensure global energy and trade security, effectively offsetting the near-halt to maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing regional conflicts.
