ABB Egypt Partners with EZDK to Modernize Dekheila Port Operations

ABB Egypt has successfully completed a strategic modernization project at Dekheila Port, in collaboration with Al Ezz Dekheila Steel Company (EZDK).

By upgrading the port’s crane operating systems with advanced drive technologies, the initiative significantly boosts operational efficiency, enhances equipment reliability, and minimizes unplanned downtime.

The project utilized a “smart retrofitting” approach, allowing the port to upgrade its existing infrastructure without the need for complete equipment replacement.

This sustainable strategy ensured the continuity of daily operations while extending asset lifespans and improving safety standards.

By integrating state-of-the-art monitoring systems, operational teams can now proactively track equipment performance, marking a major milestone in the port’s digital transformation journey.

Eng. Mohamed Ismail, Motion Services Division Manager at ABB Egypt (North & Central Africa), highlighted the significance of this collaboration: “For over a century, ABB has been a cornerstone of Egypt’s industrial development. We are proud to work with EZDK on projects that leverage existing infrastructure to build a smarter, more sustainable, and efficient future for Egypt’s strategic logistics hubs.”

This collaboration underscores ABB Egypt’s commitment to supporting the nation’s strategic projects through expertise in electrification, automation, and motion services.

By delivering integrated, low-carbon solutions, ABB continues to empower Egyptian industries to optimize energy consumption and achieve higher productivity levels in an increasingly competitive global landscape.
