Trump Links Saudi Nuclear Pact to Abraham Accords Normalization

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that a prospective civilian nuclear agreement with Saudi Arabia is strictly conditional upon the kingdom normalizing relations with Israel through the Abraham Accords, according to the Associated Press (AP).

In a social media post, Trump emphasized that the 30-year pact—expected to involve U.S. firms and be submitted to Congress for review—does not permit uranium enrichment and remains completely subject to Riyadh joining the 2020 normalization agreements.

While nonproliferation experts have raised concerns over potential enrichment safeguards, the administration maintains that the U.S. is not opposed to non-enriched civil nuclear facilities.

Meanwhile, complexities persist as Saudi Arabia continues to demand a clear pathway to Palestinian statehood, a position previously dismissed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
