Egyptian Minister of Industry, Eng. Khaled Hashem, held an extensive meeting with Steven Hines, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Industry and Analysis, along with his accompanying delegation, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral industrial relations and strategic economic cooperation.
During the meeting, Minister Hashem highlighted Egypt’s updated industrial strategy, which aims to elevate industrial exports to 100 billion dollars by 2030.
He emphasized the importance of increasing US corporate presence within the strategy’s targeted priority sectors, leveraging Egypt’s robust infrastructure, competitive investment incentives, and strategic geographic location.
Hashem also stressed that integrating cutting-edge technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, into manufacturing processes stands at the top of the ministry’s current priorities, offering American tech firms major opportunities to transfer their expertise to the Egyptian market.
On his part, Steven Hines praised the Egyptian Ministry of Industry’s efforts to eliminate investment obstacles. He underscored the success of current American enterprises in Egypt—particularly in automotive, agricultural commodities, and food processing—and proposed launching targeted industrial collaboration focusing on three to five core sectors.
Furthermore, Hines extended an official invitation to Minister Hashem to visit the United States to present Egypt’s industrial strategy to American authorities and corporations.
