UAE Exits OPEC: Strategic Decision Driven by National Interests

The UAE has officially announced its withdrawal from OPEC and the OPEC+ alliance.

Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, stated that the decision was a sovereign, strategic choice aligned with the nation’s long-term economic vision and expanding energy production capabilities.

According to an official statement, the move follows a comprehensive review of the UAE’s national oil production policy.

Al Mazrouei emphasized that the exit is based entirely on national interests and the country’s evolving role as a reliable global energy supplier, dismissing any rumors of geopolitical conflict.

Furthermore, the minister rejected speculation regarding internal divisions, clarifying that the decision is unrelated to political disagreements with international partners.

He reaffirmed the UAE’s ongoing commitment to supporting global energy market stability amid shifting economic conditions and the ongoing global energy transition.
