EFG Hermes ONE Advances Digital Onboarding for Foreign Investors Through ePassport Verification Solution

EFG Holding, in collaboration with Vlens, has secured initial approval from Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) to join the FRA Sandbox using an advanced Near Field Communication (NFC) ePassport digital identity verification solution.

This capability will be integrated directly into EFG Hermes ONE, significantly streamlining remote digital onboarding and compliance for foreign nationals looking to access investment opportunities in Egypt’s capital markets.

The innovative system leverages NFC technology to securely and remotely verify non-Egyptian investors through their electronic passports, eliminating traditional administrative hurdles.

By embedding this solution into EFG Hermes ONE, the platform aims to reduce friction while maintaining stringent regulatory standards and high data security.

Executives note that this milestone represents a critical step in utilizing digital transformation to make Egypt’s financial sector more accessible to international investors across diverse asset classes.

This development builds upon broader efforts by EFG Holding and Vlens—which has previously validated millions of unique digital identities and digital contracts—to drive technology-led innovation.

Through strategic digital infrastructure and advanced platforms, the group continues to enhance market efficiency, customer experience, and cross-border accessibility, fostering a more connected financial ecosystem throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
