In a significant diplomatic move, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and British Minister of State for the Middle East Stephen Doughty have jointly condemned recent inflammatory statements made by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
The remarks, which advocated for the displacement of Palestinians, the expansion of illegal settlements, and violence in the Gaza Strip, were described by Minister Abdelatty as fundamentally opposed to international law and human values.
During their high-level talks in Cairo, the two ministers emphasized that such rhetoric undermines ongoing international efforts to achieve regional peace and stability.
Minister Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast support for the Palestinian Authority and underscored the urgent need for a firm international stance against Israel’s expansionist settlement policies.
Beyond the Gaza crisis, the discussions covered critical regional issues, including the importance of diplomatic mediation to prevent escalation regarding Iran, support for Sudanese territorial integrity, and the strengthening of bilateral economic and trade ties between Egypt and the United Kingdom, highlighted by the signing of a new Declaration of Intent on migration
