
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast commitment to Libya’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during high-level discussions held in Cairo on Wednesday with Libyan National Army commander Khalifa Haftar.
The meeting, which included key Libyan figures and Egypt’s General Intelligence Service chief, focused on the imperative of unifying Libyan state institutions as a foundational step toward restoring long-term stability in the country.
Central to the discussions was the urgent need for a cohesive political path, with President Al-Sisi highlighting the importance of holding national presidential and parliamentary elections.
Cairo emphasized its active support for all regional and international initiatives aimed at ensuring Libya’s security and prosperity, underscoring that a stable, unified Libya is vital for regional development.
Commander Haftar expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s consistent role in promoting peace and regional security.
Both sides pledged to strengthen bilateral coordination and expand their partnership to address shared security challenges, ultimately aiming to foster an environment conducive to Libya’s comprehensive development and future prosperity.
