FIFA President Gianni Infantino has proposed an independent external review of the organization’s governance framework and decision-making processes following widespread backlash over an abandoned commercial investment plan.
In a letter sent to member associations, Infantino acknowledged that the handling of the controversial proposal created unintended concerns, emphasizing that FIFA’s core independence and democratic processes were never for sale.
Looking ahead to the upcoming FIFA Council meeting, Infantino outlined plans for structured consultations with confederations and stakeholders to enhance transparency, accountability, and institutional participation.
While facing mounting pressure from various regional football bodies, the FIFA chief remains committed to refining the organization’s strategic initiatives and strengthening its overall management structure.
