Unilever Egypt Expands Local Manufacturing with New Sunsilk Production Line at 6th of October City Facility

Unilever Egypt has officially inaugurated a new Sunsilk production line at its Mashreq Personal Care (MPC) Factory in 6th of October City, boosting the facility’s annual production capacity by 20%.

The inauguration coincides with the factory’s 20th anniversary, highlighting Egypt’s strategic position as a vital regional manufacturing and export hub serving over 30 countries globally.

Attended by senior government officials—including Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and Engineer Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry—the event emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting industrial localization and expanding export capabilities.

The new state-of-the-art line utilizes advanced liquid bottling technology dedicated entirely to international export markets, reinforcing Unilever’s long-term investment in Egypt’s competitive supply base and skilled workforce.

Operating across a 22,000-square-meter site, the MPC factory sources around 80% of its materials locally while integrating advanced sustainability measures, such as wastewater treatment and 100% recyclable plastic packaging.

With over half of its total production exported across four continents, Unilever continues to scale its operations, leveraging Egypt’s strategic geographic location and trade agreements to drive economic growth and industrial excellence.
