Egypt Confirms Drone Strike Caused Fire on Two Gas Vessels at Damietta Port

The Egyptian cabinet confirmed on Thursday that a drone attack caused a fire involving two gas vessels at Damietta Port on the Mediterranean coast.

Maritime security firm Ambrey and trade sources identified the targeted vessel as the US-owned floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Energos Winter, with the resulting fire spreading to a second vessel, the Gaslog Salem.

The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum reported that emergency firefighting teams immediately contained the blaze, with no injuries or fatalities recorded.

While investigations continue to determine the origins of the attack and safeguard national security, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
