Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), participated in the conference organized by the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Egypt), held in New Cairo, bringing together senior officials, business leaders, and representatives of international logistics and shipping companies.

During his participation in the “Current Challenges of the Logistics Sector” session, Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Dien emphasized SCZONE’s transformation into an integrated industrial and logistics hub, highlighting its response to global supply chain shifts.

He noted that SCZONE attracted USD 16 billion in investments over 3 years and 9 months, while recording USD 7.1 billion in investments during the current fiscal year, including USD 1.8 billion in the past two months, reflecting strong investor confidence.

He pointed to the performance of East Port Said Port, where container handling rose from 2.4 million TEUs in 2024 to 5.6 million TEUs in 2025, accounting for around 70% of Egypt’s transshipment trade.

He also highlighted the development of Arish Port, which has grown from near inactivity to handling around 4.5–5 million tons annually, alongside the ongoing development of Sokhna Port, linked to a national logistics corridor extending to Alexandria to enhance cargo movement efficiency.

It is worth noting that SCZONE port investments totaled USD 1.675 billion, of which USD 1.516 billion represent executed contracts from July 2022 to April 2026, across 14 projects.
